reclaiming

So often the world I live in is constructed, life is lived at fast pace and the people I know are very much “scheduled” in their lives. It is a good world, good people and interesting things happen at such a pace. But, there is something almost primeval in the need to connect at a different level—one that is recurring, not constructed and exists without anything from me or another human. This explosion of beauty took me out of the urban and into the natural…and it was in a corner being reclaimed by nature.

  1. Such beautiful, meditative flowers. I've been thinking about the theme of "scheduled lives" a lot lately, my own and others, mostly from the perspective of what happens when an over-scheduled life misses the connection with the natural world that's right before our eyes, if only we'd stop the harried pace long enough to notice. That pace doesn't agree with me at all. Thank you for this wonderful meditation and reminder.

    1. Thank you, Cynthia for your thoughts about how we miss the connections in our "scheduling". For me, it seems that I need those unscheduled breaks more and more as I age. Maybe life becomes a bit slower because I need to integrate experience more than to have it at this stage.

  2. What pretty blooms - since I'm still deep in snow, I appreciate seeing them. I'm at a different place than you, Duff. My life is almost entirely unscheduled. In such a life, I must make an effort to connect with others, or I remain too solitary. Perhaps it's the difference between a more fast-paced city life and a secluded mountain existence? I'm comfortable with solitude - maybe too comfortable!

    1. Oh, your snow....so love the photos of your world that you post on your blog. I think of the quiet that comes with falling snow...truly can be a solitary and wonderful. But, I guess I do love the beautiful days we have here, too. Flowers bursting out in January, spring becomes almost like summer. But, we truly lacked winter and all that brings for reflection. I, too, am comfortable with solitude and find I seek it more and more. Enjoy your peace!
