west of the West

California already is heaven, is a form of heaven, and anyone who lives in California knows the mystical quality of Big Sur, the importance of it - it's west of the West, it's where the dream stops.

  1. Hi Duff, I've traveled to that rugged coastline "west of the West." I like the photo you've shared of the tidepools and the breakers beyond. I do miss the CA coast. We're traveling to Moab, UT, and will bike for several days enjoying the warmth. It was a chilly 19 degrees in Bryce Canyon the morning we hiked! (No complaints though - Breckenridge got 16" of snow!)

  2. You are out in the desert and it is 19 degrees! I am in chilly San Francisco where it was 85 yesterday...an all-time record. Thinking about 16" of snow in Breckenridge...wow. I remember snow one year when we were camping on the Frying Pan River on the July 4th weekend. Long memories seem to put these things in perspective. Enjoy your stay/biking trip in such a wonderful area.
