not to grow neutral

“….and I am left with these alternatives,
to find a new mask for what I wish to be,
or try to be a man without a mask,
resolved not to grow neutral, growing old.

Hand over hand eagerly I crawl
back to uncertainty.”

John Hewitt: The Modelled Head

This absolutely glorious bloom greeted all passersby at the San Francisco Botanical Garden and I thought it would be wonderful to share in wishing everyone a joyous Easter.

  1. Don't you love that - the wish to be without a mask? That unusual blossom is surely not neutral! Thank you or your healing thoughts Duff. I'm much better this week.

  2. Oh, Barb. I am so glad to hear that your are feeling much better. I will continue to send all the best your way. I kind of thought you would relate to the absence of masks, but especially to "not neutral". I just know that you will continue to improve your health and be ready for Spring!

  3. "...I crawl back to uncertainty." Man is that powerful. It is an ongoing effort, isn't it? Sometimes inch by inch.
