the end of art

Seamus Heaney, RIP

“The end of art is peace…."
                                                                                             From The Harvest Bow

“It strikes me that the hermit and the poet probably have much in common: the need for solitude; the deep-down awareness of things and the self-discipline to spend hours in contemplation,”
Fr. Kevin Doran, homily at funeral mass for Seamus Heaney

  1. Sometimes, I think I could live the hermit's life. But then a dear friend contacts me, and I revel in our conversation. Also, I am surrounded even in my solitude by family, so I am only a "hermit" when I choose. But, I do like quiet and time alone to think. My life has afforded me that privelege. A lovely scene you photographed. Sunset?

  3. Love the quote - so true. The sky in the photo looks like something Georgia O'Keefe might've painted, had she lived on the Northcoast.
